TEDx talk launched on the power of nature coaching – learn about how to flourish with the natural world

TEDx have launched the talk on the power of nature coaching by James Farrell and Diana Tedoldi.

James and Diana say that developing a ‘sense of oneness’ with nature is more important than ever right now. We face not only the climate and biodiversity crises, but also the attendant health and equality impacts of a disconnection from nature.

The more we’re detached from nature, and place ourselves above or aside it, the less likely we are to care and protect it.

The good news is that nature can coach us into this sense of oneness. Nature based coaches like James and Diana partner with nature and their clients – and not only is this good for the client, it may also lead to more action for the planet.

A recent branch of scientific research has shown that taking action for the environment is twice as likely amongst people who connect with nature.

In the context of nature based coaching, the natural world is more than just a place to do the work – an outdoors environment where we walk while we talk. Instead, the natural world becomes a partner in the process of questioning, listening, raising awareness and acting. A community of living beings to which we belong.

Finally, gratitude is due. To everyone at TEDx Aston who made this possible especially Noor-ul-Huda Sheikh, Monique Farquharson, Surya Shanmuga and Modasar Rasul for the initial sponsorship. The kindness, support and hard work of the many volunteers including Kiranmayi Nandakrishna, Sharvari Otari, Rodrigo Colareta. To Sumanth Bevara for saving the day with the tech! To Matthias Groeneveld for use of woodland movies, Simon Knott for the birdsong recording, and Sergio Pontoreiro for video editing.
