Leadership, mental health and ADHD coaching in partnership with Nature
Nature Based Coaching
Coaching with a difference – in touch with our inner natures, in tune with the natural world!
“What I really liked about James’ style of coaching was his natural ability to connect with you, making it an easy journey where experimenting with thoughts is allowed and not always in a confined space of an office.”

About Nature Based Coaching
From £120
Nature Based Coaching is a thought-provoking and creative process that is informed by our relationships with the natural world. It involves partnering with Nature as well as each other, and typically takes place outdoors – either face to face or remotely.
Nature Based practice underpins our work at The Natural Coaching Company. We may find therefore that Nature is invited into any coaching conversation, at any time, in any place!
Benefits of Nature-based work include:
☆ Increased calmness and creative thinking
☆ Expanded horizons and an increased sense of possibility
☆ Deeper connection and oneness with the natural world
☆ Greater life satisfaction and self esteem
☆ Becoming inspired to make more pro-environmental decisions.
Connecting with Nature has been shown to reduce anxiety, and enables us to feel calmer and more positive, with a greater capacity for creative thinking. Nature connection has been shown to lead to 1.7x more life satisfaction and self esteem, and can double the amount of pro-environmental action people take in daily life. You can read more about why coach with nature here.
“His use of nature also allowed me to connect more closely to nature in a beautiful way and get support from nature. I will be spending more time sitting in the garden paying attention to the birds and plants.”

About Leadership coaching
From £120
I call it ‘leadership coaching’ – you might know it as ‘executive coaching’, or simply ‘life coaching’. Think of it as a means of becoming who you really want to be – for yourself, the people around you, and the work you want to do in the world.
You might be starting your career, a founder starting up a business, or an established manager or executive. We work with individuals, and organisations from start ups to FTSE100 business, and in sectors including science and tech, environment and sustainability, academia and the NHS. We can work with people anywhere time zones align.
People come to coaching with a range of concerns and desires. Here is a sample, but don’t let it constrain you if what you need isn’t listed here. Give us a shout and we can explore how we can help.
☆ Career and life planning
☆ Imposter ‘syndrome’ / self confidence
☆ Boosting self esteem
☆ Finding purpose
☆ Vision and strategy
☆ Better relationships – at work, and at home
☆ Interview preparation, performance and success
☆ Public speaking
Often, clients find themselves exploring deep questions – what do I really want from life, or my career? What is my purpose in the world, and how do I live it? How can I give back to my community and to the planet? This can be very rewarding work.
I also work with people to prepare for interviews and public speaking. Learning to tell compelling stories, and play to natural strengths.

“At the end of my last session I felt I had moved away from a smallness or more fragile way of thinking from the first session to focus more on how best to embrace the strengths and the opportunities of being me. This made me feel excited, inspired and strong.”
Project Director
Whether it was our outdoor sessions or deep conversations, James helped me find a sense of peace amidst the chaos, and gave me the tools to make more intentional decisions moving forward.

About ADHD coaching
From £120
Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a common condition that – if left unmanaged – can lead to serious life impacts.
My approach to ADHD recognises the challenges people may be facing, and plays to the many strengths of the condition. I believe this approach enables ADHDers to be supported better than just focusing on the treatment of a ‘disorder’ – and its language of disability, deficit, and burden. I have training in ADHD coaching, including an accredited award from the Association for Coaching.
The kinds of topics I have experience with include:
☆ Adapting to the challenges and opportunities of ADHD
☆ Acceptance
☆ Forming healthy habits
☆ Creating better relationships
My ADHD coaching is not a series of powerpoint slides about how to timebox! By agreement, however, we can introduce some extra elements, including taking the time to understand your strengths as well as challenges. There are also evidence-based tools and frameworks that you may find helpful, which I can share.
All my clients are professional adults. Regrettably I do not work with children or adolescents. Some of my clients are in receipt of medication, others are not. Some have a diagnosis, others do not. Some may not even have ADHD – many people are developing similar traits to ADHD, as a result of smartphone or technology-dependent lives.
Regardless, coaching can be very helpful as a place where you can be understood, not judged. Where you can understand yourself better. And where you are supported to find the means to do the things you really want to do!
If you’re not sure how mental health or ADHD coaching could help you, do get in touch for a free 30 minute conversation.
“I thoroughly recommend James as an excellent coach and especially for people with ADHD brains.”

Improving mental health and wellbeing through coaching
“I’m learning how to become less of a harsh critic on myself and this in turn has given me greater perspective on the control I have over my thoughts and my relationships.”

About Mental health coaching
From £120
We all have mental health, but sometimes we struggle when it’s not as good as we’d like. There is a ‘space between’ therapy and traditional forms of coaching that can really help. The kinds of topics I have experience with include:
☆ Managing stress and anxiety
☆ Recovering from burnout or overwhelm
☆ Enhancing wellbeing
☆ Increasing motivation
☆ Mind management skills
I am a qualified mental health coach. I do see people who are experiencing mild to moderate mental health distress, and who wish to benefit from the forward momentum of a coaching conversation. It is possible to be in therapy and have coaching at the same time.
Please note, coaching is not always suitable for significant mental health issues, or for people who are not coping or functioning. This work may be more appropriate for therapy with a licensed clinical practitioner.
“I feel honoured to have had the privilege of working with James as a coach. He creates a safe environment which allows you to open, share, be vulnerable and grow.”
Communications consultant
“Working with James was a truly transformative experience. He guided me through a particularly tough period in my life, and his calming influence was incredibly powerful.”
