If you’re a coach, you need to keep honing your skills.
Steven Covey famously used the metaphor of ‘sharpening your saw’ to emphasise the importance of ongoing learning and development.
You can also think of it as maintaining your web! Spiders do this constantly – do this as part of their growth. To keep our skills growing as coaches, we must keep developing our application of ethics, contract, mindset and presence. Tending and refining these keeps our webs functional and responsive.
Here’s how the Mentor coaching on offer from The Natural Coaching Company can help you maintain your web and hone your skills as a coach. There are two offers:
- The first involves professional observation of your work, either live or through recordings, and is a requirement of accreditation and renewal with the International Coaching Federation. This can include outdoor or nature based coaching work, or more ‘traditional’ coaching. We can work at ICF ACC and PCC levels.
- The second is more general ongoing skills development, and can be applied for coaches from other professional backgrounds, who work with clients that do not wish to be recorded, or in situations where recordings are too challenging to obtain (some outdoor settings for example!).
